On September 18 at Genmab, we are hosting a “challenging” cybersecurity event for security leaders in the Healthcare and Life Sciences (Pharma, BioTech and MedTech) industries. These two sectors have a lot in common, but do not often meet when it comes to cybersecurity.
About the event
In both sectors, we see increasing complexity and dependence on digitalization, a rapidly evolving external threat landscape and associated cyber risks, and increasing pressure from laws and regulations such as NIS2. Data breaches involving large amounts of sensitive (medical) information and the disruption of critical systems can have major consequences for patients, the organization and society. These cyber challenges are being addressed in different ways across Healthcare and Life Sciences organizations.
This cybersecurity event aims to start the conversation, challenge each other and share best practices. We have put together an interesting program to start the discussion and encourage collaboration within and between sectors, putting the patient’s interests first!

Meet the speakers

Joost Boele | CISO at Netherlands Cancer Institute
The Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) is one of Europe’s Top 10 Comprehensive Cancer Centers. By combining cancer care and research with international knowledge exchange, the NKI significantly contributes to its own mission statement of solving the cancer problem in the 21st century. For almost five years, Joost Boele has served as the institute’s CISO, bearing responsibility for the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the systems and data that enable healthcare and research operations. His choice for the NKI was no coincidence: before his career took a turn for information security, Joost used to be a cancer researcher.
